Kim's Little Snippets

This blog is about the ups and downs of being a wife, mother, teacher and all of the other roles that women have these days. In memory of my nephew, Barry Rabon- 9/18/92- 11/11/07

Sleep training

I've been working with baby Andrew over the last 3-4 weeks with getting him to sleep on his own. It was rough going the first day (he screamed for 1 hour and 20 minutes straight)! It was only that bad the one time though. Ever since, we read a book, swaddle him, and lie him down and he eventually falls a sleep (with a lot less crying). He is also sleeping well at night like he did around 8 weeks (we went through a few week period where he was waking 2 times a night). Now, he normally goes to bed between 8:30 and 9:00 and gets up around 7am. The book that really helped me to get into this routine is "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child".

Sometimes daddy still rocks him to sleep though. He seems to be able to adapt to this "special" occasion. I'm not sure how he will sleep once he goes into daycare in 2 weeks. I have mixed feelings about this because I've always stayed at home with my kids when they were a baby. Well, I'm off to lay this baby down for his nap.
